When I think about Dogliani Il Generale wine producer, the rolling hills of Piedmont immediately come to my mind.
In the heart of the Langhe, this producer has been making wine in the same way since 1856. Today, the fifth generation still has the same passion for the local grape varieties while using the most modern techniques in the cellar and producing wine in the full respect of nature.
I tasted for you an incredible Barbaresco Docg 2017.
Ages 26 months, of which about 9 in large French oak casks and at least 6 months in bottle, this 100% Nebbiolo grape is certainly stands out for its elegance and austerity.
This wine, red to orange in colour, has hints of ripe fruits such as blackberries on the nose. Its complexity goes towards liquorice, chocolate and leather with a balsamic finish.
Medium to full-bodied with a good acidity and integrated tannins, the palate offers spices such as black pepper, light vanilla and the freshness of mint and eucalyptus. I’d love to pair with mature or mouldy cheeses, braised meats, roasted meats but also with some pizza gourmet!
